Die amerikanische Firma Gemini steht seit vielen Jahren für preiswerteres DJ-Equipment und hat das letzte mal auf der NAMM 2011 mit dem CD-Player CDJ-700 auf sich aufmerksam gemacht. Dieses Jahr gab es wieder etwas neues zu bestaunen. Mit dem G4V schickt Gemini einen 4-Deck Controller mit Virtual DJ LE ins Rennen. Das Layout verspricht nichts, was man bisher noch nicht gesehen hat. Es erinnert sehr stark an den Vestax VCI-400 und Reloop Terminal Mix 4. Ausschlaggebend für diesen Vergleich sind wohl die 8 auffälligen Pads pro Deck, deren Funktion mit den darunter liegenden Modi-Tasten ausgewählt wird. 4 physische Inputfader, Load-Tasten in den Kanalzügen, XLR-Ausgänge und große Jogwheels runden das Bild eines ultra günstigen DJ-Controllers ab. Denn der Gemini G4V wird ab Mai 2013 für ca. 399 US Dollar erhältlich sein und mischt somit die Karten neu im unteren Preissegment für 4-Deck Controller. Im Klartext bedeutet das eine Kampfansage für den American DJ VMS-4 und den Numark N4. Bezüglich der gebundelten Software könnte der G4V sogar einer der ersten Controller sein, der mit der neuen Virtual DJ 8 LE Software ausgeliefert werden könnte, sofern die Software bis dahin fertig ist. Über die Haptik des G4V kann bei dem ausgestellten Gerät noch nichts näheres gesagt werden, da es sich dabei noch um einen Prototypen handelte. Das Gehäuse ist komplett aus Metall, wobei die Mixersektion im Hochglanzlook gehalten ist.

Over the years the American company Gemini has become renowned for manufacturing budget DJ equipment and caused quite a stir at the NAMM 2011 with their CDJ-700. This year they have something new up their sleeve. With the introduction of their G4V, Gemini has created a 4-deck controller bundled together with Virtual DJ LE software. The layout brings nothing new to the controller game & bares similarities to the Vestax VCI-400 or Reloop Terminal Mix 4. The crucial difference lies in the 8 large pads per deck and the mode buttons beneath. 4 line-in faders, load-buttons in the channel-strips, XLR outs & large jogwheels make-up the rest of the features of this budget DJ-controller.

The Gemini G4V will hit the streets in May 2013 for around 399 US Dollars & is guaranteed to make some waves in the lower price segment for 4-deck controllers. This means that the American DJ VMS-4 & Numark N4 will be facing some stiff competition in the future. It is highly likely that the G4V will be bundled together with the new Virtual DJ 8 LE software, if it's ready by then. We haven't had a chance to try out the feel of the G4V, as it was only prototype. The full body is made of metal, of which the mixer section has a high-gloss finish.
