Behringer hatte bereits zur NAMM 2012 die modulare Controller-Serie CMD angekündigt, die jetzt wohl in den Startlöchern steht, um mit der Software Deckadance 2LE ausgeliefert zu werden. Das besondere an den Controller ist, dass man sich mit den unterschiedlichen Modellen praktisch seinen Wunschcontroller zusammen bauen kann, da sich die einzelnen Module mit einander Verbinden lassen. Die Module bewegen sich dabei preislich um die Hundert-Euro-Grenze herum und bieten für fast jeden Geschmack veschiedene Layouts. Auf der NAMM 2013 wurden die Module mit der Software Deckadance 2 vorführfertig ausgestellt. Deckadance ist eine DJ-Software von Imageline, die leider in Deutschland nie richtig populär geworden ist, da im Pro-Bereich der Markt von Traktor und Serato beherrscht wird. Das Potential, um den Marktführern Anteile weg zu nehmen hat die Software alle male, da sie schon vor Traktor mit Features wie Sampler DVS-Support und VST-Einbindung aufwartete und oben drauf mit einer aufgeräumten und designten Oberfläche ins Auge fällt. Wer Lust hat kann sich aktuell noch Deckadance 1 als Demo-Version ziehen, um einen ersten Eindruck zu bekommen. Die CMD-Serie wird laut Behringer auch mit anderen MIDI-fähigen Softwares kompatibel sein. So können sich z.B. auch User von Serato Scratch Live, Traktor Pro oder Ableton Live auf vorgefertigte Mappings freuen.

Neben dem Software Bundle mit Deckadance gibt es eine weitere interessante News im Bezug auf einer der CMD-Controller. Der Behringer DC-1, den man als Drumpad-Controller bezeichnen könnte, wird im Zusammenspiel mit dem Midifighter 3D TSI-File von DJTechtools in der Lage sein nicht nur interessante Combos zu kreieren, sondern auch die kompletten Remixdecks der aktuellen Traktor Pro2 Version anzusteuern. Bisher war es nur möglich die kompletten Remixdecks durch den Traktor Kontrol F1 anzusteuern. Ende letzten Jahres kündigte dann DJTechtools an, dass der Midifighter 3D ebenfalls alle Remixdecks ansteuern könnte. Und nun wohl auch der Behringer DC-1? Sollte sich diese Info beim Verkaufsstart der CMD-Serie bestätigen, würde der User glatte 150.- Euro sparen, wenn er statt eines Traktor Kontrol F1 einen Behringer DC-1 kauft. Gerüchten zu Folge lagen sich DJTechtools-Macher und Behringer Entwickler auf der NAMM in den Haaren, wobei hier unklar ist, wer von wem die F1-Firmware kopiert hat. Ob das ganze einen Rechtsstreit nach sich ziehen wird, ist noch unklar. Vorerst dürfte aber der potentielle Remixdecks-Kunde in diesem Fall der Gewinner sein.

Behringer already announced the coming of the CMD modular controller series last year at NAMM 2012. They are now ready & come bundled with Deckadance 2LE software. The great thing about the series is that it's possible to create your own personalised controller set-up by combining the seperate modules, that can be easily hooked-up together. The seperate modules should cost around 100 each & because of the different layouts there should be something for everyone. At NAMM 2013 the modules were up & running with Deckadance 2. Deckadance is the DJ software devoloped by Imageline, that unfortunately never became popular in Germany, where Traktor & Serato rule in the pro sector. The potential to hold it's own against it's competitors is there, they even had intergrated sample banks before traktor. It has DVS support, VST's can be intergrated & has a clean , well designed user interface. If it sounds like something for you, then you can download Deckadance 1 as a demo version, to make your own impression. According to behringer, the CMD series will also be compatible with other MIDI capable software, so users of Serato Scratch Live, Traktor Pro or Ableton Live can look forward to some predefined mappings.

Alongside their software bundle of Deckadance, there is more interesting news surrounding the CMD controllers. The Behringer DC-1, that resembles a drum-pad controller, can be used in collaboration with the Midifighter 3D TSI file from DJTechtools not only to create interesting combos, but also be able to control the complete Remixdecks in the most recent version of Traktor Pro2. Up until now it's only been possible to control them with the Traktor Kontrol F1. Towards the end of last year, DJTechtools announced that the Midifighter 3D will also be able to control all Remixdecks. And now the Behringer DC-1 too? If this information is confirmed at it's release, then the user will be able to save 150,- Euros, when buying the Behringer DC-1 instead of the Traktor Kontrol F1. There were rumours that DJTechtools & Behringer had heated discussions at NAMM 2013, but it is unclear which of the two companies copied the F1 firmware from the other. Whether they'll go to court to resolve the matter, remains to be seen. But for now, the potential Remixdecks customer will be the winner.
